Family Movie Night Truth Be Told, what are good family movies

Once again, Walmart and P & G are bringing another wonderful family movie to television! If you haven’t been lucky enough to see their previous family movies {including The Jensen Project, A Walk in My Shoes, Secrets of the Mountain and Change of Plans}, you are missing out! Premiering on FOX on April 16th is “Truth Be Told”.

I love family friendly movies and think they are a great way to bring every member of the family together to enjoy an evening, while also learning important messages. It also opens up the communication lines between parents and children, when certain subjects might otherwise be hard to approach.

Truth Be Told:

When leading marriage counselor Annie Morgan (Candace Cameron Bure) is offered an opportunity to host a relationship talk show, she jumps at the chance. But fearful that being single might ruin her big break, she conspires with an old college friend and recent widower, Mark Crane (David James Elliott), to pose as a married couple with kids. Their story starts to unravel when Annie and Mark join her eccentric soon-to-be boss (Ronny Cox) for a weekend at his ranch in New Mexico. Comical misunderstandings mark the event as Annie struggles to keep up the ruse, finding herself emotionally invested and conflicted by her own conscience. Will she confess the truth about her marital status and her feelings for Mark… and will the truth set them free?

My family and I were able to screen this movie early so I could tell you our thoughts. I was also sent some popcorn and candy – I even shared 🙂

We popped our popcorn, grabbed the candy and settled in to watch the movie.  Even the kitties joined us!  We try to do a movie night once every two weeks or so, as we all feel it is important to “hang out” together.  Truth Be Told is a really touching movie.  One of my favorite things about it was how they emphasize how much it is possible to love someone, and what draws two people together.  Annie lied about her family life, so that she could get the job she wanted.  She pretended to have a family that she doesn’t have, and hurt everyone involved.  In the end she comes clean, but not without repercussions.

I have always told my children that lying isn’t acceptable.  We have all done it at one time or another, but generally speaking they only damage relationships.  I also have always told them that there are acceptable lies – for extreme circumstances.  For instance, if a stranger were trying to take them, or get them into a car, etc., it is perfectly okay to make something up then run like the dickens.  There are a few other instances when it might be okay, but ultimately the truth comes out in the end…and that’s just not a chance worth taking.

Be sure to tune in to ‘Truth Be Told’ on FOX at 8pm/7ct on April 16th!

  1. I really love both these actors and I like a movie with a moral that is not shoved down your throat.
My kids are grown up, but I also taught them the same lessons as you did and so far they have done well.
I’ll be DVRing this one so I can watch it the next day and save it.
