Gatorade Sports Mom Survival Pack

Are your kids/teens involved in sports? If so, you struggle, wanting to make sure you are doing all of the right things to keep your kids safe during their sports activities, and healthy as well.

I have some great information for you, thanks for Gatorade!

Gatorade has launched a new resource, Gatorade Moms, which features sports nutrition information and advice in response to the “Gatorade Sports Mom Study”, that shows moms identify nutrition as their greatest area of influence but that they also have concerns and uncertainties surrounding nutrition as it effects their youth athletes’ lives.

The new online resource has a comprehensive library of articles, training tips and expert advice on the topics of nutrition, hydration, sports injury, training and conditioning. Also featured on the site are inspiring documentary webisodes starring real Sports Moms, not actors, such as Wanda Pratt, mother of NBA all-star, Kevin Durant!

  • Sports Moms are a big community 13 million strong. In fact, 7 of 10 moms are raising kids in competitive sports.
  • Athletes have special nutritional needs to fuel sports performance and nutrition is where Sports Moms say they make the most impact on their young athletes’ success.
  • Despite their commitment to nutrition, Sports Moms have concerns and uncertainties around their #1 role, including protein, hydration, pre- and post- game fuel.

Did you know that 70 percent of athletes show up for athletic events dehydrated? That is a startling number! Proper hydration is crucial to your athlete’s ability to perform. That’s why Gatorade is scientifically formulated to keep athletes hydrated and performing at their best by delivering the key electrolytes and carbohydrate energy they need to stay in the game.

Sports Moms reported that there are additional nutritional challenges when raising an athlete including the fact that kids in sports eat an extra meal a week and two more meals away from home than kids who aren’t in sports. Moms of athletes know better than anyone how much their kids sweat during games and practice.

Hydrating sports drinks, gatorade series Pro 02

Gatorade has several  products to help keep your kids/athletes hydrated.   Now part of the G Series as 02 Perform, Original Gatorade is scientifically formulated to keep athletes hydrated and performing at their best by delivering the electrolytes and energy they need to stay in the game. Plus, the thirst-quenching taste encourages them to drink more fluids and avoid dehydration during activity.

To learn more about keeping the young athletes in your life safe, please visit Gatorade Moms and read the excellent tips and advice from REAL MOMS!  On the site you will also learn how to give your athlete the support they need at every stage of competitive development.

You can purchase Gatorade products at retailers everywhere, and also online at stores such as Amazon.com.

  1. Hi: Good contest. I think the problem with youth athletes is concussions, I am glad that schools and pro sports are taking it more seriously. Other problems maybe to much pier pressure to perform on the field. Sometimes that can be just as bad. These two I believe are the most pressing issues on athletes today.

  2. One of my fears for young athletes is the possibility of concussions with lasting effects.

  3. I am afraid that young athletes are pushed too much for performance at an age where they are vulnerable. I think they need more support and counselling.

  4. My biggest concern for young athletes are that they are pushed too perform things that their bodies are ready to handle yet.

  5. Gatorade his made withOUT High Fructose Corn Syrup!!

I also Like Gatorade on FB 🙂

  6. I’m concerned about over-competitiveness, losing the fun factor, injuries, and dehydration. captainliss40(at)gmail(dot)com

  7. In our area what concerns me with young athletes is the way coaches push and dont allow near enough fluid breaks for what they sweat out…especially during football practice. I do know dehydration can happy very quickly, even when temps are not really high.

    thanks!

  8. My concern is keeping them hydrated durings games, practices and at home

  9. I’m concerned about injury prevention, especially in female athletes.

  10. My main concern is that they take the game too seriously, stress competition too much, and miss out on all the fun!

  11. My concern with young athletes are their hearts. You hear about them dying after they have played a game a football and basketball far too often. I think perhaps the sports physicals they have should be a little more thorough.

  12. keeping perspective that it is only a sport and there are other important things in life.

  13. I feel kids are push by society to be better at everything at the same time we live in this hustle n busle world where the easy options are unhealthy and enough aren’t being taught early enough what is important hysration, eating healthy, proper exercise etc

  15. I worry about the ones with asthma. My oldest daughter has asthma and you would not believe the number of times she has had to let a teammate with asthma use her inhaler because her teammate did not have her inhaler with her. I always kept an extra with me just in case.

  25. My’ biggest concern is not staying hydrated…

  26. my son played many sports, but at just 15 was already having aches and pains even in the off season. we’re taking a year off, so he can decide for himself whether he wants to continue or not. i’m worried about the wear and tear they put on their little bodies. i appreciate that it has taught him great lessons, and that he is in great shape… it’s so hard to make the right decision.

  27. My biggest concern is that young kids don’t really know when they’ve pushed themselves too hard. Adults can feel when they’ve passed their max but it’s hard for kids to develop that sense.

  28. Concerned that they push too hard to the point of injury.

    wolverina401 at gmail dot com

  29. With the different areas we have lived the one thing that always worries me is the heat and not enough breaks. A few places let the kids rest/sit under the trees for shade but only when they aren’t on the field…

  30. Living in such a hot climate, I’m always worried about young athletes not being properly hydrated and being pushed too far in extreme temps. Thank you for the lovely giveaway.

  33. Living in Florida, it’s easy to get overheated very quickly, so I worry about heat related issues like heat stroke.

  34. My concern for athletes is heat stroke and dehydration in the hottest months of the year.

  35. I worry about dehydration with young athletes. seriously. Coaches need to be extra vigilant about this issue.

  37. I don’t think young athletes pay enough attention to their body’s and need to drink healthier drinks and not so many sugery one’s

  38. i am concerned with the concussions that young adults get while playing sports.. they are young adults and their bones and muscles are still growing.. concerned about long term effects.
    karenmed409 at comcast dot net

  39. My biggest worry are concussions and second impact syndrome. It seems to often players shake it off and are concerned with how they may appear weak to others rather than listening to their bodies. They may not even know the cues to look for. silenttributary at yahoo dot com

  40. Dehydration and general safety are my concerns for young athletes. thanks!

  41. from my experience, kids dont drink enough, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! i buy my daughter gatorade, every practice and every game! would love to win this! thank you for the great giveaways!
    sh**********@***il.com

  42. My concern is the parents that push youngsters to do/be what they wanted to be.

  43. My biggest concern is the time spent at practice. Everyday after school and if there is a tournament, sometimes my daughter is not home until 9pm. That’s along day-7am until 9pm
    bepoia(at)hotmail(dot)com

  45. My biggest concern with young athletes pertains to gymnasts. My daughter has multiple friends who compete is gymnastics, and they always seemed to be hurting themselves very badly.

    cj******@***oo.com

  46. I fear that youn athletes are pushed too hard by coaches and trainers –my 19 year old cousin plays soccer–she has had to have her knees operated on 6 times and she has constant pain in her legs–I worry about her!
    ka***********@***il.com

  47. The peer pressure from “others around” cause any athlete to “suck it up” and get back in the game if any injury happens. Unless there is a HORRIBLE snap of a limb or complete knock out – I see many that stay down for a bit and get up only to stumble a few times as they get set for the next play. Then these kids leave the field and go out to eat with the team, or get back home and feel horrible/having to visit a doctor to find they have a concussion or something maybe even worse…..is it all worth it???????????

  48. My concerns are that they sometimes stress their bodies to the max, a perfect example is gymnasit.

  49. My concerns with young athletes is their safety while participating in sports and all the budget cuts sports programs for young athletes are experiencing.

  50. I worry about them being pushed to hard and when they don’t preform up to some adults idea of what they should be able to do instead of what they can do alot of time they are required to do even more running and exercise over what they were doing before and during the game
