Disclosure review
In my neck of the woods, it’s almost time to start planting, whether it’s flowers or a garden. This year, I’m going to try my hand a growing my most favorite snack, popcorn with a little help from Angie’s BoomChickaPop! I’m excited to announce that I’m a Grow Some Boom 2.0 Ambassador – which means I’ll be sharing my growing experience with you!

This year, Angie’s BoomChickaPop is giving out over half a million packets of their non-GMO, untreated BoomChickaPop seeds so others can have a chance to grow a healthy snack. I’ve had the pleasure in passing out seeds to friends and family and can’t wait to see how they Grow Some Boom!GSB

Paige and I spent some time over the weekend planting our seeds. We’re not planting in the ground yet because we occasionally see freezing temperatures, so we started them in little containers and will move them in the middle of May.

What a fun activity to share with my daughter. She just loves her gardening kit!  Not only will she learn about the growing process, but she now has ownership in those seeds. She’s excited to watch those seeds grow into stalks of corn. While we have the Boom seeds temporarily placed in containers, once I’m absolutely positive it will no longer snow, we’ll transplant them to an area in the backyard that gets a lot of sun and have good drainage.

If you’re able to plant now…go for it! Prep your growing space by aerating the soil. If you are so inclined, add some organic soil to the mix! Make sure you plant your seeds 8-12”apart in about 1” deep of soil if it’s warm out. If you are experiencing hot temperatures plant the seeds 2” deep. Don’t forget to water them!

Within a week you should start to see some green shoots popping up. How exciting! Popcorn unusually experiences a 100 day growing season and should all grow well, you’ll see our progress with the corn knee-high by the Fourth of July!

In the meantime, we’re still enjoying Angie’s BoomChickaPop popcorn found in the local grocery stores – it’s a yummy snack that I can feel good about!

  1. When I was 4 or so I remember my parents growing some. It was really cool! I’ve never done it myself.

  2. What a great way to get your children involved in a great hobby and learning experience at the same time.

  3. I have tried to grow corn here for years and every single year, the bugs get to it and I end up with very little corn. I have tried all sorts of pesticides as well as natural solutions for the bugs and worms and they always still win.

  4. This would great for my son to do so that he can see how things grow. I love this.

  5. I haven’t, but it does sound like fun and something that I could get my nephews involved in to teach them about gardening.
