I have been collecting Box Tops for Education for such a long time.  Before I had kids in school I would save them for friends.  My girls can spot them on packaging and will tell me if a different package has double Box Tops – bonus!  If you don’t know what I am talking about let me take a minute to explain.

The General Mills program began as an experiment on boxes of Cheerios in California with first year earnings of $1 million dollars.  Since then it has expanded and you can find Box Tops for Education on over 240 brands.
There are 90,000 enrolled schools across the country that are benefiting from the Box Tops for Education program.  The program helps schools with their basic operating needs and also lets schools get textbooks, musical instruments, playground equipment, and classroom technology.  General Mills has awarded more than $250 million through the program.  The sky is the limit with Box Tops for Education.  Most schools that participate earn about $900 but schools with parents and PTA’s that really work hard on the program have been known to earn more than $20,000!  Just for clipping the Box Tops for Education!

Box Tops can be found on so many items.  I always make sure that before I recycle a cardboard box I check it good to make sure that there isn’t one on there.  From cereals to paper products you can clip, save, and earn money for your local schools.  If you do not have children, like I didn’t when I first started saving, you can bring them to your neighborhood school or give them to a co-worker for their child’s school.  I keep a plastic baggie on my refrigerator and collect them there until our school asks for them.  In fact, we just sent in 50 last week.  Our school has classroom competitions to see which student brings in the most and also which classroom collects the most.  The kids think it is a lot of fun which is why I now have little eagle eyes spotting the products with Box Tops for Education.  Begging me to buy them rather than another brand.  As a mom I trust the General Mills brand and buy many of their products.  General Mills always has a bunch of coupons as well for their products and my local grocery store doubles them everyday making it very affordable. Plus you get the Box Tops!

  1. Wow, hard to pick just one favorite. I have to say, potatoes are a staple, so maybe Au Gratin potatoes. Or the Nature Valley Granola squares, with dark chocolate. Cinnamon Toast Crunch is up there, too.

    Thanks!

  2. I did not know the crackers I LOVE so much were General mills, the Food should taste good crackers.. I LOVE these. I also eat a LOT of nature valley bars.
