What Happens “If You Give a Mouse an iPhone”?

I know I have said it before – I love books and reading, and my girls are also really getting into books and reading.  Any time I get the opportunity to read a new book to them, I jump all over it! That’s why I am excited about our new book, “If You Give a Mouse an iPhone”!

"If You Give a Mouse an iPhone"?
We just received If You Give a Mouse an iPhone: A Cautionary Tail by Ann Droyd, and I absolutely love this book!  This book is about a mouse named Applesauce who gets an iPhone to play with for ten minutes while his owner finishes making a sandwich, and all sorts of things happen.  The story is somewhat similar to the “If You Give” series of books (if you give an animal a certain item, then he will want this, and then he will do this, and so on).  But this book is also somewhat of a humorous and light-hearted satire on our society’s dependence on cell phones and technology, especially when used as a distraction for youngsters (which I know I do way too often).

"If You Give a Mouse an iPhone"?
I knew my daughters would not understand the humor behind the story, but they still enjoyed it all the same.  They both love getting a hold of their daddy’s iPhone (and playing with all of the apps, looking at pictures and videos, and turning on music), so they were familiar with that part of the story.  The illustrations are great, and it was fun reading about what the mouse was doing (or not doing) after he got the iPhone.  This is definitely a book that we are keeping on our bookshelf and reading often.  We even had to take it along with us on our Thanksgiving trip!
