As a former gymnast, I am no stranger to standing up nice and tall and having great posture. In fact, I’ve had random people stop me on the street to comment on it (weird… I thought so too). My husband on the other hand, is a sloucher.
On top of being a sloucher, he’s also a high level runner who puts his body through a pretty heavy grind on a weekly basis. His back often hurts and while I’ve suggested yoga and Pilates to him, he’s not interested. I knew that if I was going to help him help himself, I’d have to go at it from another angle- his footwear.
We were sent a pair of StandRight Zen Men’s Oxford from BackJoy to test drive.
Upon receiving them, the first thing Michael noticed was just how nice they looked.
He commented that they looked like a great work horse shoe and the design could take him from a day in the office to a weekend lunch date with friends. He’s often on his feet at work and at the end of the day, his lower back hurts. However since wearing the StandRight Zen, he’s noted that his back pain is significantly less.
Featuring BackJoy’s Natural Gait Line System™, the Zen Oxford guides your foot as you walk while keeping your head, hips and feet balanced in good posture. Shock-absorbing materials cushion the foot at impact and disperse energy for extra comfort.
Even though I stand nice and tall, I sometimes don’t sit with the same gusto. I think it is a gymnastics thing too. Gymnasts are trained to stand tall with shoulders rolled back and abs engaged. If you’ve ever watched the Olympics and seen gymnastics, you know exactly the stance I’m talking about. One thing gymnasts don’t do a lot of though? Sit. I’ve known I had a posture problem with the way I sit for awhile, I just wasn’t really sure what to do about it.
So when the SitSmart arrived, I was excited to try it out. The SitSmart has a slight curve to it. To use it, you sit on it and it can be used on traditional chairs, in your car, on the floor or even on soft surfaces like your couch!
It automatically positions your body in correct posture for all-day comfort. Its patented design works by tilting your hips upright and comfortably “floating” your spine over the seat.
I noticed a difference as soon as I sat in it. As someone who writes for a living, I spend a lot of time sitting at my desk. Sitting in the SitSmart has been a joy for my body. My back pain hasn’t gone away from using the SitSmart, but it certainly has relieved some of the daily pressure I experience. If you want to experience better posture, I highly recommend both of these products from BackJoy!
