Happy first day of Hanukkah!
It is official. The holiday season is now upon us. Hanukkah starts today, Thanksgiving is tomorrow, and then the good ol’ (sometimes dreaded) Black Friday finishes out the week. Now I know that many of you have already got your brains kicked into high gear trying to think of and find the best gifts for everyone on your list this holiday season. I, personally, tend to shop over the course of the year but I’ve certainly procrastinated this year. I, myself, have been guilty of stalking deal websites and ad prices but, alas, I’ve still yet to find that “it” toy for my own little ones.
Thankfully, however, there is one company that I know I can always count on.
Having actually included some of their goodies in last year’s festivities, this time around, I wanted to share the greatness that is Joovy with a good friend of mine. Just prior to last Christmas, we had decided that a bicycle would be our little guy’s “it” toy. Having a plethora of brands and options to choose from, we opted for one of the Joovy balance bikes. It was our very first experience with any sort of balance bike but, after a childhood classic bike riding lesson mishap, I figured that “new and improved” might very well be the way to go. Come spring, summer, and then fall, I could not have been happier with our decision. In less than a year, both of our little ones quickly learned bicycling basics with Joovy and our oldest has since graduated to and mastered his “real, big boy bike.” Wanting to give that same sense of accomplishment to another little one, this year (with the help of Joovy), I opted for the gift of giving.
Meet the Joovy Tricycoo. While we have the model for bigger little ones, the Tricycoo is Joovy’s take on bicycle options for the little, little ones. Geared toward children as young as 18-months and then those up to 44lbs, this was the ideal “it” toy for my friends’ 1½ year old son.
The Joovy Tricycoo allows for three different riding options:
- Assisted riding with parent steering and added “baby surround arms” for safe enclosure.
- Assisted riding with parent steering and open concept seating.
- Free riding for little ones that are comfortable with and have mastered their Tricycoo.
Your child will love the adventure of riding their very own vehicle and parents will surely love that they are in control, when needed, to help their child through mastering each stage of learning and, eventually, self-riding.
We tested it out a bit in my home prior to taking it out for its debut ride. We quickly realized that there was something special about the wheels on the Tricycoo. While most riding toys tend to be loud and, sometimes, damaging on hardwood floors, Joovy has incorporated sports injection-molded wheels with urethane tread. Long story short, it’s quiet! And whether your little one is using it on carpeting or hardwood, it’ll ride smoothly without causing any damage. It’s genius, right?
After a bit of riding around indoors, we decided to head out for a day on the town. Since this particular little guy had some prior riding experience, we opted to jump right to the mid-step and exclude the baby surround arms for the time being. We decided to take our Joovy Tricycoo out for the ultimate test – the beach! Seeing that, in most cases, bikes of any kind are typically used in backyard play, testing it out in the soft beach sand was a perfect display of its capabilities.
The incredibly strong steel frame easily supported all of little man’s weight and kept him and the Tricycoo from sinking into the sand. You can see by these tire tracks that, even when Momma was pushing him along, the Joovy Tricycoo rolled effortlessly along the sand. Don’t mind his awkward riding position either; he was a bit busy playing with the super fun bell conveniently located within perfect reach for him to ring and scare the seagulls away!
He had such a blast riding (and being pushed) along the gorgeous seashore. There were even a few moments where he showed interest in pedaling on his own. And, of course, with the Tricycoo’s fold up foot rest, it was an easy switch to let him have a go at the pedals. Ah, the look of such seriousness…
And when they get tired of the, oh, so arduous (kidding, of course!) pedaling, a quick flip of the foot rest allows them to, once more, have Momma push them.
This little guy absolutely loved his voyage along the sea with the Joovy Tricycoo. And, naturally, we had to make a pit stop to remind everyone what brought us here in the first place…
The Joovy Tricycoo is a wonderful option for the little ones on your list this holiday season. It is the absolute perfect way to introduce your child to the beginning necessities of bike riding – balance and coordination. The part that puts the Tricycoo above all others is its unique ability to allow children to master these skills one at a time. The further inclusion of the parent control option certainly makes it ideal for, both, parent and child. There is no longer a need to worry about your little one having to struggle with riding and steering and no more back breaking tasks of us parents having to lean over and help during a walk around the block. The Joovy Tricycoo is undoubtedly the epitome of all children’s tricycles on the market today and surely, the best “it” gift for your little adventurer. Just look at this adorable “happy on his new Joovy” face!

From the Joovy team and all of us here at Eighty MPH Mom, we wish you a very happy Hanukkah and a wonderfully joyful Thanksgiving!
*Note: Since we were on the beach and in the soft sand, the use of a helmet was not present on our ride. However, we strongly suggest that when riding elsewhere, you should practice the routine of riding safely and employ the use of all safety gear for your child (including helmet wear). The Joovy Noodle is a wonderful option for children.
