Conair 20-Piece Lithium Ion Haircut Kit Review

Okay, so we all know that after motherhood comes this magical little time in which we, well, seem to forget about ourselves. I’ve certainly skipped quite a few trips to the salon recently and, these days, I can go about six months between haircuts (though my hair dresser advises against that). Now, being the mother of boys, I’ve found out quite quickly that doing the same doesn’t work so well with them. Short hair equals a LOT of trimming. Luckily, having a family friend as a salon owner means a helping hand when needed. After picking up a few tips from her when it came to cutting my boys’ hair at home, all I needed were the tools to do it with.

Recently, I was given the opportunity to test out the new Conair 20-Piece Lithium Ion Haircut Kit and I am quite certain that I’ve found my tools. This kit makes keeping up with haircuts a breeze. We’ve tried a handful of kits prior to the Conair kit, but the 20-Piece Lithium Ion Haircut Kit definitely takes the cake.

For starters, the nifty travelling case neatly keeps all of the pieces together. There is no need to dig through bathroom drawers and cabinets in search of different sized guide combs, oil, clips, and chargers. Everything fits, quite nicely might I add, into this classically simple carrying case. It can be stored anywhere for quick and easy access, and is perfect for travel.

One of my favorite features of the Conair 20-Piece Lithium Ion Haircut Kit is that it can be used, both, with or without a cord. The kids aren’t too fond of having it plugged in while being used because “plugs are dangerous, Mommy.” To that, I must oblige and, with this kit, I can. I am also not keen on having a cord end up tangled around my hand while doing the cutting. I was quite impressed when I learned that, when fully charged, you can get 75-minutes of use! That is definitely a plus when dealing with squirmy kiddos. Hubby, however, doesn’t mind using it corded and loves the quick 15-minute charge for 15-minutes of use when necessary.

Another point that I was thrilled about was the inclusion of a barber cape. The kids are quite picky about getting their hair trimmings on their necks, in their shirts, etc. and rightfully so. The cape has been a life saver here. That, coupled with the scissors, combs, cleaning brush, and blade cover makes for a, truly, all-in-one kit.

The kit includes:

· 10 guide combs for different hair lengths (including left and right ear taper combs)
· Blade guard for easy maintenance and protection of the clipper blades
· Barber scissors
· Two special combs
· Full-length barber cape
· Cleaning brush and lubricating oil

Now, with the average price of men’s haircuts up to nearly $20, the Conair 20-Piece Lithium Ion Haircut Kit pays for itself in only a few uses. I was hesitant at first when it came to cutting my little ones’ hair at home but it is much easier than you’d think. These days, anything that helps to save money is a good thing and this, this is an amazing thing. Especially when you have one with hair like this…

Obviously, the Conair 20-Piece Lithium Ion Haircut Kit has been a great, well-used product in our home. With summer and the hotter temperatures now here, we’ve been keeping up with our haircuts much more frequently.  It’s wonderful to have the ability to skip the salon and manage the trimmings in our very own home. The kit can be purchased at most mass retail and drugstores for an average retail price of $49.99.

Be sure to check out Conair on social media through Facebook. There, you’ll be able to stay up to date on all of the newest products, sales, contests, giveaways, and more.

  1. Handy! The Mister has had me cut his hair a few times and I dread it. I’m always afraid I’ll mess up. I like that this has 10 guide combs, I don’t think even I could mess that up! 😉

  2. My hair clipping kit that my son uses and I use to cut my Father’s hair is getting really old. And I really like this model of a hair trimmer. When I need to get a new hair cutting system, I am going to get this model. I like all the pieces I can get, when I buy this item.

  3. This would be so handy for my little grandson. I love that it has so many useful accessories.

  4. I used to cut my boys hair when they were young – now that they are grown men I do not think they will let me get close to them with sheers…

  5. My son sure could use this and I love that it comes with a case so he wouldn’t lose anything! And it’s reasonable priced under $50. Well, his birthday is coming up…..

  6. That is a very good price! I would like to get one to use on my dog too! The ones you get in the pet store are too pricey and they even sell some of the same ones that are offered for “people”. I really like Conair products.

  7. I like that this is all together and has 10 different combs. As our old one is soon shot we will be looking for another one . Ours only has 5 combs. I cut everyones hair here plus I do my own too so this would be great for us. Thanks for the info

  8. ooh,i think the hubby will be getting this for christmas! would beat the heck out of the set he has now and it’s a decent price too!

  9. Love that this has multiple guide clips for varying hair lengths. Would make a great gift for my brother. Thanks for the thorough review!

  10. This is great. After my hubby’s last and final trip to get yet another failed haircut at a salon he tells me he is getting clippers and I am doing it. ha! We shall see. This looks great.

  11. I am so cheap (oops, I mean frugal) that I haven’t paid for a haircut in years. I’ve looked into some haircutting kits but have been hesitant to pull the trigger and buy one. I really appreciate your review.
