Let me tell you the issues I have with deep fryers (LOL). When I was growing up, my mom had an old deep fryer and we would get so excited when she would pull it out. We knew that we would have a wonderful feast for dinner that night. She made the best fried chicken ever, and made home-made french fries using red potatoes and cut “shoestring” style. When I got married and moved out, I bought a deep fryer, but it was much smaller than hers, yet it used an enormous amount of oil. It seemed so wasteful to me to use a bunch of oil for one meal. I got rid of that deep fryer and haven’t had one since. I had just been thinking of getting one again, when I was contacted to review the Cuisinart Compact Deep Fryer. Oh happy day!
I have been looking forward to writing this review, because this is is a product that has swept me off my feet. I was first impressed by the size and appearance (it is quite handsome!), but I was even more impressed after I used it. My brother-in-law was visiting from Pennsylvania for a couple of weeks, and he and the hubs went to Costco and bought fresh scallops and prawns (a HUGE amount of these!). I decided that it would be a perfect time to try out my new “toy”.
About the Cuisinart Compact Deep Fryer:
Cuisinart presents a deep fryer that takes up less counter space. Designed to fry batches up to ¾ of a pound in just 1.1 liter of oil, this is a great deep fryer even for spur-of-the-moment snacks and meals. The compact design allows creative cooks to prepare fried calamari to top a salad, and moms to fry up mozzarella sticks for kids. I put the oil in the deep fryer, to the specified line (it didn’t take much at all!), and plugged it in to heat up. I breaded the prawns, and set them aside. The oil heated very quickly and I was ready to begin! I put a few prawns in the basket and placed them in the oil:
In just a few minutes they were a beautiful golden brown. I made several batches since the “boys” bought so much food. Next I tried the scallops. They, too, fried perfectly!
Cuisinart is a name I have known and trusted for years, and I am so happy they came out with this. I am just smitten with the Cuisinart Compact Deep Fryer. I used minimal amounts of oil, even though I fried so much food. This is going to be such a handy little machine for when I want to deep fry food for my family. No more wasting huge amounts of oil, or pulling out a huge deep-fryer. It fits neatly in my cabinet, and it is just SO easy to set up and use.
If you are ready to ditch the huge deep fryer, I highly recommend this one. If you need a gift idea for wedding present, a kid moving away from home, or just because you like someone, this is it! The Cuisinart Compact Deep Fryer is available at stores and online!

OH EM GEE! Can I tell you I LOVE LOVE LOVE Cuisinart. I have a Fry Daddy…never taken it out of the box. So afraid to use it, but the Cuisinart looks totally fearless of use.
