I have used Nakano Rice Vinegar for years. I primarily use it when I am making teriyaki sauce or sometimes in salads. I did not know until recently, however, that they had more flavors than just the regular rice vinegar. Boy have I been missing out!
There is a whole line of flavored Nakano Seasoned Rice Vinegar, and I received an assortment of these (oh happy day!). How did I not know this?
There are some tasty recipes on the Nakano website, and I just had to try one. I chose the Apple Ginger Marinade, as this just sounded heavenly. It called for the Roasted Garlic seasoned vinegar. I wanted to marinade chicken and bake it, and I had most of the ingredients on hand. I simply mixed the ingredients in a large bowl (I love that this recipe makes approx. 1 1/2 cups of marinade!):
I washed and dried chicken
and poured the marinade over the chicken:
Can I just say “yum!”? Oh my – this was so good.
The Nakano Roasted Garlic Seasoned Vinegar added just the right amount of oomph to the chicken, and I think it also helped to cut down on the sweetness of the apple juice. It had a light but rich flavor and when cooked, the chicken had a nice glaze on it. I will definitely be adding this recipe to my collection! This would be amazing grilled as well.
We have also been enjoying different Nakano Seasoned Rice Vinegar flavors on a variety of items. It was fun to mix things up a bit when making my own teriyaki marinade. I salads, and I like to add a dash into many other things I cook as well. The Italian Herb is fantastic on salads! I love that the Nakano vinegars are light and don’t have the calories that many traditional salad dressings have. I mean, salads are supposed to be healthy, right? I sampled all of the flavors and it is really hard to pick a favorite. I really, really loved the Roasted Garlic, but the Basil & Oregano is a close second (also really good on salads).

I’ve never tried Rice Vinegar and have always been curious about it. The Apple Ginger Marinade sounds like a fresh new idea for chicken and I am always looking for new ways with that bird, by gosh! Does the Rice Vinegar smell and taste like white vinegar?
Jennifer-admin
It has a really mild smell and taste. It’s not nearly as strong as regular white vinegar! This was such a tasty recipe!
