New Willy Wonka Movie
Let’s dive into what an epic movie Willy Wonka is and why we need a new one in 2023.
1. It’s Based On A Best Selling Children’s Book
All 3 movies are based on the 1964 best selling children’s Novel “Charlie and The Chocolate Factory”. The book was written by Roald Dahl and is his most iconic children’s book. “Charlie and The Chocolate Factory” is one of the best-selling children’s books of all time.
The 2023 rendition, tells the story of how a young man and chocolate maker became the fantastical Willy Wonka.
The movie also depicts the young Willy Wonka as not only an inventor, but a magician!
This adds a new level of wonder and imagination that the original Willy Wonka Movie did not have.
2. Diverse cast
You can see by the short trailer that this movie is also special because it features a multi racial cast. This is important in 2023 because of the great strides that have been made for media to be all inclusive.
In short, kids like to see other kids like themselves and their friends on screen and in shows.
This movie has it all…magic, musical numbers, and mayhem. Be sure to catch “Wonka” in theaters on it’s release dates starting December 15, 2023.
3. Actor Who Plays Willy Wonka in The New Movie
How Many Willy Wonka Movies are there?
Gene Wilder 1971:
Johnny Depp 2005
Timothée Chalamet playing Wonka in 2023
This young actor breaths new life into the character and Timothée’s portrayal is a far cry from the creepy Wonka played by Johnny Depp (Willy Wonka movie 2005), from Tim Burton.
The 2023 Wonka is also a bit more personable than Gene Wilder’s 1971 version whom you rarely saw interact with outsiders and common people in the town.
Wilder’s version was considered a recluse, who had not opened his doors to the public in many years.
4. Is Willy Wonka A Christmas Movie
No, but we need a sweet movie with wonder and triumph to watch this Christmas. It can be called a Christmas movie only because of the time of release. Moreover, it’s a feel good movie that will have you excited about life and feeling like a kid again.
“Wonka” 2023 reminds us of what it’s like to have big dreams, and teaches kids to go after them with their whole heart.

5. Is Willy Wonka A Disney Movie?
No, Wonka is not a Disney movie. With so many live action Disney movies out over the past few years, it’s easy to get confused. WONKA is produced by Warner Bros. Pictures.
It will be in theaters December 15th, 2023
The people behind “Wonka” are…

- Producers Alexandra Derbyshire (the “Paddington” films, “Jurassic World: Dominion”).
- Luke Kelly (“Roald Dahl’s The Witches”), comes an intoxicating mix of magic and music, mayhem and emotion, all told with fabulous heart and humor.

If you had read the classic book, Wonka WAS a recluse. Wilders version was based on the book and he was wonderful!
Right. That’s exactly what was written. Please read with comprehension.
You know what they say about people who assume. 🙂
You can’t beat the Willy Wonka version that starred “Gene Wilder”! It had many teachable moments as well as true human touching emotion. It had fantasy and fun for everyone. I will watch the 2023 version just for comparison, but I already know it won’t be a long lasting memory as the 1970’s version has imprinted on me. Think you guys could have used the $ in a wiser endeavor.
