Dance (or Jump!) in the Rain with the Peppa Pig: Muddy Puddles DVD Gift Set – Review

As many of you know, this weather has been absolute chaos. We’ve gone from frigid temperatures, to rain, to random single days of sunshine, and we even have yet another possible snow in the forecast for the first day of spring. At the moment, however, my entire backyard is essentially one big lake. You see, with all of the craziness that has been the weather as of lately, much of our yard was iced over for some time. However, once the temperatures finally hit above freezing, all of that ice melted. What was left was an entire yard filled with endless amounts of puddles – muddy puddles!

For kids, muddy puddles are pretty much the best of the best when it comes to outdoor play. The simple idea of being allowed to get incredibly dirty and, quite literally, roll around like a pig has fun written all over it. From a parent’s perspective, it’s not always ideal to allow your children to play in muddy puddles and rain but, really, we all just have to let loose sometimes. In regard to parenting, television for our children is also a moment where we can let loose a bit. For my own kids, we do try to opt out of television for the most part but the kids certainly have their favorite shows here and there. One of those shows, perfectly fitting for our mud chat, is Peppa Pig.

For those of you that aren’t familiar with Peppa Pig, it is an adorable show that focuses on the daughter of a little (or big?) pig family. Peppa, along with her parents, her younger brother, and her friends, are always up to some sort of adventure and it always ends with a huge smile on the faces of, both, the character and the viewers.

Peppa is a lovable, exuberant little piggy who lives with her little brother George, Mommy Pig, and Daddy Pig. Peppa’s favorite things include playing games, dressing up, days out, and jumping in muddy puddles. Her adventures always end happily with loud snorts of laughter.

Recently, we’ve been stuck indoors due to the horrid winter weather so we’ve been able to catch up on our Peppa Pig time. In addition to the television shows, the Peppa Pig brand also offers a wonderful collection of toys, plush animals, and DVDs. Today, it’s the latter of the three that we will be talking about.

My family and I had the opportunity to get our hands on one of the newest Peppa Pig DVD’s (out today!) and the kids have been watching it on repeat for the past few days. Although it is a bit too cold to enjoy our own yard full of muddy puddles, thanks to Peppa Pig we can enjoy the all new Peppa Pig: Muddy Puddles DVD from the warmth of our living room!

In our house, every time it rains, the kids sit by the windows and wait… and wait… and wait some more, hoping for the minute that the sky breaks, the sun comes out, and they can finally get back outside to play. Whether they want to go out to play on the swings, ride their bikes, or even jump in those ever so awesome muddy puddles, they and Peppa Pig have one thing in common – having fun!

It’s raining, and Peppa is sad because she can’t play outside but when the rain stops, Peppa and George get to play one of their favorite games – jumping in muddy puddles! When Mummy and Daddy Pig join in, things get very muddy indeed. There is also a game of hide and seek, a camping trip in the countryside, a lesson in riding bikes, and much more.

Whether my little ones are outside playing and enjoying the fresh air much like their piggy pals or are simply being entertained by the lovable and oh so silly Peppa Pig show or the all new DVD, Peppa and her pals are surely a hit in our house. However, since the weather has prevented much of our outdoor play recently, we’ve become quite fond of the Peppa Pig: Muddy Puddles DVD and, better yet, the coinciding gift set!
