Eighty MPH Mom Review Disclosure

An object at rest stays at rest while an object in motion tends to stay in motion. While the laws of physics can be complicated to some, this is as simple as it gets. What many fail to realize is that these laws do not only apply to “objects” but also have meaning in regard to us as humans. It’s certainly not something that is thought about on a regular basis but, please, take a moment and just ponder the idea – if you’re “at rest” for a long amount of time, getting up and going again is typically a bit more difficult than it would be had you already been on the move. Take mornings for example. After being all snug in our beds for the usual eight hours (I wish!) at night, mornings can often be a drag that leaves many folks reaching for a cup of coffee to finally “get going.” Let’s face it, even the happiest “morning people” aren’t functioning at a good ol’ 80mph first thing in the morning.

Once we all finally get ourselves in step to the beat of the day, a great number of us often halt our own motion by sitting down for work. How many of you are deskbound for your job? I’m sure that you know that being seated for an extended period of time can not only be uncomfortable but it can also create issues in regard to your health and posture. In addition to being “at rest” as a whole, the makeup of your body is also motionless. Think of when you sleep the wrong way and awake with a crick in your neck or when you lean in a certain position for a while only to have your hand wind up with that pins-and-needles feeling; those are both instances where being “at rest” can create troubles within our bodies.

Why am I telling you this? I mean, after all, there’s not much that one can do when a job requires an extended time spent at one’s desk, right? Well, that is where you’d be wrong. Thanks to modern day technology and a bit of sheer genius, there are now ways in which we can still be productive at work all while managing to stay active while doing so. Although it may sound like something we could only hope for, please, allow me to introduce you to Swopper.

When I was presented with the wonderful opportunity to work with such an amazing company, I was quite literally jumping for joy. You see, many of us bloggers work from home and, while I do have a fantastic little office setup, I’d often opt for the couch seeing as its living room location allowed me to remain within the center of our home. Now, as comfortable as our couch may be, it is absolutely as far from ideal as one could get when speaking of extended sitting. While it may be comfortable in the moment, the constant relaxed form of sitting actually puts pressure on my spine and neck due to my blatant lack of posture. No one sits perfectly upright on a sofa. Instead, we typically grab the nearest pillow, a cozy blanket, and snuggle up into a comfy position and call it a day. Despite my knowledge of this habit being horribly wrong for me, it wasn’t until I began having issues that my bad habit actually caught my attention. When my back began hurting and was soon followed by random pain in my shoulder and wrists, I knew that it was time to make a change. I finally made the move back into the office but, even there, something just wasn’t right. You see, we previously had an oversized desk chair that I’d also sit oddly in. Still struggling with ongoing pains, it was then that someone had suggested that I try using an exercise ball in place of a chair. With that, I found myself at the kids’ table due to the size difference between my desk and the ball so, while the ball itself did actually provide me with some relief, something still wasn’t quite right. Then… it arrived!

Swopper - Teaser
I was so excited when our new Swopper chair arrived that we tore into its packaging immediately. Knowing that there was such technology within a single chair lead me to believe that its setup would be difficult but I couldn’t have been more wrong. With a few simple steps, the chair was up and ready to go within five minutes. Now, I’m sure you’re all wondering why I’m already speaking so highly of this particular chair. To put it simply – we were meant to move!

It was a matter of survival for our ancestors: only those who could move far and fast caught the stag, defended the cave, and gathered enough roots and berries to survive. Running, jumping, bending, stretching, stooping, ducking, squatting, and lying – that is what the human body was made for.

I know that I’ve said it more than once now but, seriously, take a moment to think about it. Since when did it become “work” to be still, to sit? The word “work” itself is defined as “activity in which one exerts strength or faculties to do or perform something.” Despite the fact that so many of us wake up and head off to “work” in the mornings, few of us actually perform any physical “work” that exudes the various strengths of our bodies. Instead, we’ve almost begun to travel backward in time in regard to our own evolution. That is until Swopper came along.

Swopper - Evolution
Swopper allows you to finally get moving again despite the fact that you’re actually sitting down while doing so. While everyday “work” may require our sitting down, they cannot dictate a single correct way to sit. After all, we were born to move and we all assume our own various postures throughout the day instead of opting for a single, permanent one.

If you are permitted to behave naturally, you never assume such postures, but slightly move all the time. When standing you shift the load from foot to foot, when sleeping you unconsciously move automatically, and also when sitting your body has the urge to move even when you want to sit still, at a concert for example. After just a few minutes you change your sitting position, cross your legs to the right and left, fold your arms, lean to one side and then the other…

We are ALWAYS moving and that needs to be seen as a good thing. Dynamic is a great way to describe it; always active or changing. It sounds the most natural because it IS the most natural and dynamic sitting, being the most natural, is also the healthiest way to sit. In the process, there are many benefits that coincide:

Swopper - Sitting
Swopper - Movement

Circulation
It is no secret that moving keeps your blood flowing and Swopper helps to do just that. As we move, our muscles constantly contract and extend. This motion works to help pump the blood throughout our bodies and back to our hearts thus maintaining an ideal circulation. This, of course, helps to better things such as our oxygen levels, our metabolism, and even helps to support body mechanisms such as muscle fibers, arterial walls, and even the heart itself.

Breathing
The more you move, the more you breathe. In order to keep a steady movement, our bodies need oxygen. Moving encourages better breathing and, with Swopper, deep breaths and a regular breathing rhythm become more common. Better breathing not only helps by improving one’s circulation but it also assists by strengthening our diaphragms. The movement that Swopper allows isn’t the only feature that supports healthier breathing habits. Swopper products also encourage a more upright seated position and this helps to open your diaphragm. Doing so, again, leads back improved breathing and improved blood flow.

Comfort
As I previously mentioned in regard to my own issues, being seated for an extended period of time can cause great discomfort especially where our backs are concerned. With more than 80% of the population suffering from back troubles, there needed to be a change. Swopper provides us with just that. Through its design, it forces you sit in a more upright manner throughout each and every coinciding movement. This helps to lessen the pressure that would otherwise have been put on your intervertebral discs and, in turn, aids in strengthening your back, posture, and overall comfort.

Performance
Better blood flow and improved breathing lead to our brains being supplied with greater amounts of oxygen. The combination of that often leads to happier moods and, in turn, better performance. According to Swopper and completed research, it has been proven that there is a clear connection between one’s posture, movement, and health and their work performance. With Swopper chairs, you are able to not only keep your body in motion but you can do so in a correct manner thus avoiding the negative implications of bad posture and unwanted tension. Instead, your body is properly supported, you’re comfortable, you are able to keep moving, you’re often happier, and you are more productive because your body allows you to be.

Swopper - Moving
I had the opportunity to try out the Swopper Classic in black and I absolutely love every aspect of it.

The all-rounder of the Swopper family. Available in various high-quality cover materials. Branded microfiber – soft and velvety to the touch, breathable, easy to clean, and elegant. Available in a variety of stylish colors.

Swopper Classic - Colors
Even their own description of it gives you reason enough for purchasing because, with a Swopper, you are regularly doing all of the following:

  • Strengthening your back
  • Training your muscles
  • Breathing deeper
  • Improving your concentration
  • Stimulating your circulation
  • Having fun while sitting and working

So, what is it that helps to make the Swopper great? It is clear to see that it is quite different when compared to the conventional office seats but it’s not necessarily as easy to pinpoint the exact reasons behind its incredible benefits. So, please, allow me to be of some help and let’s break down the Swopper piece by piece.

Swopper - Parts

Convex Seat
Flexible, adaptable seat – prevents pressure points on the underside of the thighs.

Swopper AIR Seat Cushioning (available in Swopper AIR models)
Special high-tech cushioning with new, climate-active cover – for feather-soft sitting comfort. Five perfectly matching functional layers provide breathable, pressure-relieving and heat-regulating sitting.

Individually Adjustable
Easy setting of the seat height for an optimum angle between hip and knee.

Up-and-Down Movement
The vertical movement is the unique movement in the third dimension made possible by the sprung 3D technology from aeris. The vertical movement can be adjusted separately to suit each sitter’s weight. This relieves the intervertebral discs, stimulates the blood circulation and thus ensures optimum supply of oxygen to all parts of the body.

3D Movement Element
Supports and encourages movement and frequent change of sitting position. The full flexibility of movement to the sides and backwards and forwards extends your reach and ensures an optimum sitting posture with respect to the working surface and helps keep you fit, ensures freer, deeper breathing and strengthens your back and muscles in general. You can adjust the seat individually for weight and sideways movement.

Stable Foot
Extremely stable, available with or without castors.

I am so incredibly glad to be able to say that, since receiving our Swopper, not only have I been able to sit and work more comfortably but my backaches have seemingly disappeared and I’ve found that work is more enjoyable because I do have the ability to move more freely.

Swopper - Randi
Swopper Collage
So many people have a knack for being fidgety especially when being forced to remain seated while completing a task such as computer and/or paperwork. However, maybe it is our own want for perfection in our “work” that leaves us in the wrong. Society has taught us that we are supposed to sit still, get our work done, and nothing more but our bodies have taught us otherwise. It is about time that we listen to what is important here.

Listen to your body. Do right by yourself. Take your health into account even when doing something as simple as sitting. Get yourself a Swopper!

  2. eeeekkkk…what stands out the most…Price..wow!!! I like that it supports and encourages movement and frequent change of sitting position,

  3. I like that it is individually adjustable. I have a hip tear, so an all fits one chair never is comfortable for me.

  38. The feature that stands out the most is that it strengthens your back and the aspect I love is that it stimulates your circulation. Very nice chair.

  39. i like most the stability. I am always fighting a battle at work to get a chair without armrests and I certainly would prefer this seat as it is better for the body. It is very harmful to sit all day and this would help someone in a sedentary sitting job.

  40. I like the idea of combining the benefits to core conditioning with a great looking task chair. I won’t always go and work out, but I will always check my emails and that will get me started.

  41. The stable foot stands out to me. I like that. I don’t want to tip over. lol. The aspect I like the best is that you can have fun while sitting and improve your health and circulation.

  49. I love that it actually moves up and down. The thought of it improving my back pain is very intriguing to me.

  50. I like that you can get on and off the Swooper without having to move it. And you can easily straddle something (I have a desk that you have to straddle, which can be a problem with normal chairs). I also like the 3D movement. I’d like to try it.

  52. This looks like an interesting chair! I like the idea of the “Flexible, adaptable seat – prevents pressure points on the underside of the thighs”. I hate hard chairs that hurt after sitting in them for 30 minutes. I deal with a lot of back pain and I bet this will help.

  59. I’ll feel young and like a kid as I get to wiggle and move seated atop a giant spring! How much fun is that?

  60. I love the 3D movement and also that it is individually adjustable. This looks and sounds like something everybody should have, thanks for the chance to win it.

  61. I get terrible back aches in chairs so this looks really interesting to sit on and I like the colors and design of them too.

  71. The part that stands out the most is that it strengthens your back. I like that it is comfortable to sit on.

  72. I think this looks like a great design for a chair. I love that it moves so freely. I work as an ergonomist and know important it is to have motion, instead of static sitting, and this would allow for that.

  73. I like that it is adjustable. I am only 5 foot tall and it is hard to find a chair that works with my short legs. I also have a bad back and I think this would help.

  74. I think I need this in my life. I love that it keeps your back aligned and the fun factor can’t be overstated. I am pretty sure it would help with the “numb butt” factor as well, at least for me.

  75. I like the 3-d and up and down movement. I sit in front of the computer way more than I should.

  85. I like the Convex Seat I like that it’s has a flexible, adaptable seat – prevents pressure points on the underside of the thighs.

  86. I love the 3d movement but what stands out the most to me is the price. At $699 it isn’t even an option for me 🙁

  87. This would be nice for my desk chair. I like the Up-and-Down Movement the best. Because it relieves the intervertebral discs, stimulates the blood circulation and thus ensures optimum supply of oxygen to all parts of the body. Thanks for this contest.

  88. The huge spring stands out, which is cool! I like that you can get moving, even while sitting. I need that!

  89. Thank You for the giveaway… we like that the Classic Swopper Swivel Chair is designed for “dynamic sitting” which will continuously allow movement in three dimensions, facilitating greater blood circulation in the legs, and help improve posture while sitting at your desk !
