Target up&up Dishwasher Gel Packs
I have tried many dishwasher detergents over the years including Target up&up brand. Some work great and others leave a lot to be desired. The last brand of dishwasher gel packs I tried (these shall remain nameless) were quite disappointing. They left white detergent specks all over my glasses and other dishes. Of course this meant that I had to wash all of my dishes again. This was not only an inconvenience, but a huge waste of time. I then switched back to liquid dishwasher detergent which does seem to work better.
Good news! I have recently switched back to gel packs since trying the Target brand up&up Single Load Auto Dish Packs. I have to admit that I was skeptical when I first received these for review – many times I end up disappointed when trying store/generic brands, as they often are not as effective as brand name/more expensive products. Of course, my previous experience with these types of packs was a brand name, so who knows. But I thought it only be fair to give the Target up&up brand a chance. I am really glad I did.
I was really surprised that the up&up gel packs were so effective at cleaning our dishes, especially since one of my 16-year old daughter’s chores is to load and unload the dishwasher. As is typical with a teen, she is kind of careless and does not always rinse the dishes before loading them. Honestly, this is pretty gross (and smelly). Needless to say, I wasn’t very hopeful. Boy was I wrong! Here are a couple of photos of a glass bowl and drinking glass to show you what I mean:
Crystal clear! Our other dishes came out perfectly clean as well. My daughter was happy to discover this as well – not because she really cares about how clean our dishes are, but that she can get back to the simple way of doing things. She now only has to place a gel pack in the dishwasher instead of pulling out the liquid bottle, measuring, pouring it in the dishwasher, etc. Target up&up dish packs are water-soluble packs which remove grease, residue and food particles.
Since gel pack dishwasher detergents are so incredibly easy to use, I am delighted that I can start buying them again, instead of liquid dishwasher detergent. It is nice to have complete confidence in Target up&up Single Load Auto Dishwasher Gel Packs, and know that my dishes will come out clean without me having to rewash them. It also saves me from the embarrassment when we have guests over (I certainly don’t want them to pull a glass out of the cabinet that has specks, spots and a film on them!).
I am excited to try more of the Target up&up brand – their products are high in quality but low in cost. They have over 1,000 products for every need – health care, personal care, household, baby and beauty. I am all for spending less, but only on products that can actually compare to the bigger brands as far as effectiveness. If all of their products perform as well as the gel packs, I will be one happy camper. up&up products are available exclusively at Target. Make sure you take advantage of money-saving Target up&up coupons – there are a bunch!

My dishwasher broke in the spring, so I don’t need them anymore. But wow, look how clean! That amazes me as well!
I have found that many of the store brand things work just as well as the name brand stuff. Now I just need to get a Target near me.
Thanks for the post, name brand detergents can be expensive and some don’t work all that well. I like the packs but have had some not even dissolve all the way leaving a film on the dishes and a clump in the cup!
thanks for this post, i also think that the generic brand name usually comes out not as good as the regular brand its great to know this work which will help us save money and time!
I’m still waiting for hubby to hook up dishwasher. I’ve been trying to decide what brand of cleaner to use. I really enjoyed your review and I think it’s helped me to decide. Thanks so much for sharing!
You are very welcome! Good luck with your dishwasher 🙂
