A tablet that washes my washing machine? Genius! Now, one would think that a washing machine (a machine that uses soap and water) wouldn’t need any cleaning, right? Wrong! Very, very wrong. If you have babies, toddlers, teens, or heck, even a husband (kidding!), then you probably know about the unpleasant odors that can emit from a washing machine. Since I am the primary “laundry” person, I am well too aware to those lovely fragrances.

Personally, I like our clothes and towels to come out of the washer and dryer smelling clean and fresh. Nothing is more bothersome when I finally have finished that load of laundry, pull them out of the dryer and…..ick. That smell. I know I need to wash the load of laundry again, but who is to say that the same thing won’t happen? And why is it happening at all?
Thank goodness someone had the bright idea to make a cleaner for washing machines. That is where the odor troubles start, believe it or not. Prior to trying Affresh, I never would have thought that washers needed a good cleaning every now and then. I knew about the odors, but didn’t have a clue as to what caused them (which was incredibly frustrating). HE (high efficiency) washers especially need help, as they are so air-tight and use less water than older machines. They are incredibly efficient, but they do cause buildup that can lead to odor, mold and mildew. Blech. I guess you could compare it to a bathtub or sink – the residue accumulates and needs to be cleaned.

Whirlpool suggests cleaning washers monthly – and with Affresh® Power Puck™ tablets, consumers have even more cleaning power to help resolve or prevent the build-up of odor-causing residue. The reason Affresh works so well is the oxygenated bubbling action of Affresh® Power Puck™ tablets. They penetrate and dissolve unseen residue, providing a more effective cleaning option than bleach alone.

I couldn’t wait to try these and I immediately placed one in my washer after receiving them. I simply ran the washer like I would a normal load, using hot water, pressed start and that was it! So far, so good – it’s been a few days and I haven’t noticed any odors at all.
Please stay tuned – as a Team Affresh Washer Cleaner participant, I will be telling you more about my experience with Affresh in an upcoming post!
*I wrote this review while participating in a campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of affresh and received product samples and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
