Of all the subjects I teach Luv, science is the one that intimidates me. Biology was the only branch of science that interested me as a student. Thankfully, The Young Scientists Club sent us The Magic School Bus Weather Lab to check out.[*]
The Young Scientists Club is a website that features single science kits, games, mini kits as well as offering a continuous learning monthly curriculum subscription kit:
The kits not only build upon each other but are also interlinked. For example, when your child studies magnets with science kit 3, he/she
will make a compass. This compass, in turn, will be used to study wind direction with a self-made weather vane from kit 4. This
linkage enforces the learning of this science curriculum as a continuum as opposed to a one-time experience that children will
most likely forget.
~ The Young Scientists Club
Inside this creatively packaged lab kit we fount a slew of experiment cards, charts, stickers, a weather station project {which she loves} and a data notebook.
Using a thermometer, wind meter, weather vane, compass, and a little rain gauge {which will get plenty of use where we live!} Luv and Daddy put together her weather station. She likes recording her observations – she takes that quite seriously. I can tell by the look on her face, pencil in hand, making her notes. *chuckle*
The Mister’s thoughts:
I think this is one of the most fantastic things I’ve seen in a while for education purposes. It makes it nice and organized to actually teach a child about the weather. But it does it in such a way that is a refresher for myself out projects I have forgotten about. Like making a tornado – it is knowledge I had, I just didn’t remember until now. So it’s nice they take a lot of that old knowledge and combine it into a useful lesson.
Luv’s thoughts:
I like the weather chart with the stickers. That’s my favorite. And I love the weather station. I think it’s great.
Whether you use them for homeschooling, supplementing their school work, or have a few on hand for rainy day activities, The Young Scientists Club has a plethora of fun kits to fuel your little one’s curious mind! I’m glad to have been introduced to this website, I’m already looking for more kits to boost Luv’s science lessons with.

I believe living here in Oklahoma my granddaughter would enjoy the Magic School Bus Weather Lab. Would probably be more fun then the stick on the string we use now, if the stick is wet its raining, if its moving back and forth its is windy and if it is going round round in circles and disappears its a tornado. LOL, that is her joke./…
