Top Cities to Visit on a Budget
Want to see the country but you aren’t exactly swimming in cash? This article will give you six of the best cities in the United States for affordable vacations. Plus, who knows? Maybe you’ll like one of the cities on this list so much that you’ll consider moving there! Without further adieu, below you will find our list of the top cities to visit on a budget!
Chicago, Illinois
Chicago is the proud home of many public parks. For example, the Garfield Park Conservatory, a world-renowned plant observatory, features thousands of plant species. Chicago also boasts Lincoln Park Zoo, one of the last zoos in the United States to offer free admission to guests. If you have children, the Maggie Daley Park Play Garden is a must-see for the entire family. The playground features a ship, gardens, a lighthouse, as well as a picnic area.
Greenville, South Carolina
Greenville is known both for its cutting-edge culinary scene and its affordable activities. You and your family can visit the (free of charge) Greenville County Museum of Art, which houses works of art from American art icons Andy Warhol and Andrew Wyeth. You and your partner can also get in a workout as you bike the Swamp Rabbit Trail.
Santa Fe, New Mexico
If you’re an art fan, go to Canyon Road and visit the galleries in the area. After gallery hopping, stop by at the Museum of Contemporary Native Art ($5 for admission) and learn about Native American culture. End the night at the Santa Fe Plaza and hear live music acts while eating fajitas from nearby vendors.\
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
The city, known as “Brew City”, has plenty of free and low-cost activities for the budget traveler. You can even visit the Milwaukee Art Museum on the first Thursday of every month for free. If you’re a fan of architecture, the spired exterior alone is worth the trip. Some of the other activities you can do include taking a free tour of the Miller Beer facility and buying “day of” tickets for a Milwaukee Brewers game, which can sometimes go for as low as $1.
Cleveland, Ohio
Cleveland actually operates as an arts and culture mecca that’s a lot more affordable than places like New York City. Art lovers can visit the Cleveland Museum of Art for free. If your family likes classical music, the Cleveland Orchestra offers free tickets to some of their shows for children under the age of 18. The Cleveland Institute of Music regularly offers music shows that are free to the public.
Washington, D.C.
Most of the iconic monuments in the nation’s capital are open to the public. Plus, history lovers can go to any of the 17 Smithsonian museums for free. A lot of the museums put on shows that are free to the public. If you love camping, you might check out the many campgrounds near Washington D.C.
While it’s always great to get home, sometimes you’ll get so inspired by a city you visit that you’ll make plans to move across the country. There’s so much to do before a former vacation spot becomes your current home. One of the things that you’ll have to do is hire long-distance movers. Long distance movers will help ease the process to move you to your new favorite city. Definitely shop around and look for free quote from other moving companies to make sure that you are getting the best deal. Long distance movers are worth initial investment once you’re in your new home. Either way, enjoy your new vacation destination or home with the list above!

Some of these cities are near me so they would be great for a longer weekend i would never have thought that these bigger cities would be affordable for a budget vacation.
