Weekend Antiques – fun finds!

I don’t have much free time, but when I’m able to find some…I take full advantage of it! As it turns out, this week is Spring Break.  I finished up a major paper and essay so I have a week to enjoy and I’m not going to waste any time!

And enjoy, I did!

It’s been a while since I’ve been to our local antiques store so I hit up the local Starbucks and hit up the local junk store. I say that with affection because it’s set up as more of a antique consignment shop. People rent a space and display their stuff.  You’ll find some antiques and a whole lot of junk.

There are well organized booths, then there are scary booths that you avoid. Can you guess which one this is?

When I’m antiquing, I look for Harvest Grape Milk Glass, Pyrex and 1920’s prints. This trip, I was looking for an egg slicer. The metal type with the wires, but I didn’t have any luck.  I found plenty of gorgeous Harvest Grape Milk Glass though!

This set nearly came home with me.  The great thing about milk glass is its durability.  I’m certainly not afraid to let my kiddos use my milk glass.

The unicorn clock was pretty entertaining.  Actually, it’s a monstrosity!  Part Cinderella, part The Last Battle by C.S. Lewis.  Gold and shiny with a butterfly second hand.  Ugh!  Not that any of that wasn’t considered when I purchased it.

Just kidding!

I walked out with only one purchase.  I found a smaller blue Pyrex bowl (the smallest in the set of nesting bowls) for $5.00.  It now belongs to me!  It’s a lovely addition to the other Pyrex I have, if I could get my hands on the red and green bowls in that collection, I’d have a complete set!

What are you always on the hunt for when you go antique shopping?

  1. It looks like you had a lot of fun. That is my kind of store :). I love the milk glass. I think you should have taken it home with you. If you look to the left of the milk glass picture you will see part of a glass with one of the 12 days of Christmas. I purchased that whole set for my sister for Christmas. She love the 12 days of Christmas and I couldn’t pass it up.

  2. Slowly, slowly I’m collecting milk glass! I promise! I saw several sets of the 12 days of Christmas cups, I almost snatched them up as well.

It is obvious that kitchen items are my favorite, huh? 🙂

  3. I love Pyrex finds… and! Fire King cups. I have two that I absolutely adore. My grandma had a set and the pearly peach one was HERS. No one touched it! 😀

  4. That unicorn clock is atrocious! I don’t go to antique stores. Not that I haven’t ever wanted to; I guess I just haven’t carved out the time to do so.
