#AveenoDailyChallenge – Week One

#AveenoDailyChallenge Week 1

I am taking part in the #AveenoDailyChallenge on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Aveeno.

Last week, I told you that I would be starting my journey on the #AveenoDailyChallenge.

#AveenoDailyChallenge Week 1

For me, with two little ones to chase after, the running around and keeping active was a piece of cake. Speaking of cake, however, when it came to eating healthy, well that was much easier said than done. While I always put forth as much an effort as possible to make sure that my children are always getting the healthiest of options, when it came to me it was almost a lost cause. Take breakfast for example – both of our little ones are NOT morning people. They drag around the house and it’s a fight to get them to eat, brush their teeth, get dressed, and simply get them ready for the day. More often than not, my “breakfast” turns into something along the lines of a quick granola bar as I’m running them out the door to get to school on time. Lunch and dinner are no different. I’ll make them up something tasty but, between all of the “Mommy, can I have a drink,” “can you cut this,” “mine is too hot,” “I don’t like this,” game of a million questions, by the time I get to my own meal it’s either gotten cold or I am just too drained to bother with trying to sit down and eat because. Usually, at that point they’re already up and running amok through the house so the mere thought of sitting down is just wishful thinking. Alas, I was (and am) determined to change this.

This year will be the start of great changes and many new things to come but, for now, I’m focusing on food. I’ve wrapped up my whole family into this challenge and, with the help of Aveeno, we’re off and running!

I will admit that this first week has certainly taken some getting used to. I mean, after all, with the holiday and the plethora of goodies available (cakes, cookies, sweet treats, and more!) refraining from indulging in one too many sweets isn’t exactly something that I had been looking forward to all week. That being said, I decided to start slowly. After sitting down and setting weekly goals for myself within the three week #AveenoDaily Challenge, I decided that Week #1 would be oriented toward cutting back on the excess of sugary beverages for me and hubby.

You see, after living in the south for a while, good ol’ sweet tea has become my weakness. When I was younger I actually made my own recipe that worked out to about six cups of sugar per gallon of iced tea – NOT good! Well, tasty yes but healthy no. Thankfully I’ve learned better and have dulled down my taste for the overly sugary stuff but, still, at any given time you will definitely find some form of iced tea in our house.

For this past week, while we do still have our iced tea on hand for those occasional cravings, for the most part I have actually been opting for water alone. I was quite surprised to see what a difference that made in just one week alone. Coupled with the Aveeno Active Naturals Daily Moisturizing Lotion, my skin has become much more clear and smooth than it was just one week ago.

My favorite part about the lotion itself (and the water) is that it reminds us to get back to the basics, to live naturally. When it comes to what we put in our bodies – like foods and beverages – naturally healthy options are always your best bet. And, when it comes to what we put on our bodies – like lotions – the same ideology applies.

Having now gotten, both, the beverage aspect of healthier living down and, of course, nourishing my skin with wonderful Aveeno products, I am excited to see where the rest of this journey will take me. Keep checking in for updates as I am sure that the greatness of all things natural will only transcend from here.
