Twelve times; that’s how many times I had to say “eat your breakfast” this morning. It is hard to convey to a pair of toddlers the importance of eating breakfast. During the weekends we are big on the full home cooked meal – eggs, toast, bacon, pork roll, sausage, scrapple, the whole nine yards. During the week, well, that tends to be much shorter and typically a lot lower in nutritional value. Now, I have been guilty of shortening and sometimes skipping it completely but children definitely have a knack for changing things. However, it is difficult to find something that is both healthy and quick. Add trying to impress children to that and you are nearly fighting a losing battle.
Thankfully, Kellogg’s is here to help. I know what you’re thinking. Cereal means goofy characters placed on a child’s eye level in supermarkets but really only amount to entirely too much sugar, right? Wrong. Kellogg’s Rice Krispies, Raisin Bran, Corn Flakes, Mini-Wheats, and Smart Start Strong Heart were all dubbed as healthy cereals by Eat This, Not That. Both at only 110-calories and twelve grams of sugar each, Kellogg’s Froot Loops and Kellogg’s Apple Jacks are very child friendly cereals that are healthy enough to be granted the parent approval. Even some of the sweeter cereals still offer a lower sugar intake than a majority of common breakfast items such as orange juice. Who would’ve thought?
“Cereal, as part of a balanced breakfast, can kick-start your metabolism and set you and your family up for a more successful day at work, school or at play. In fact, more than a quarter-century of research supports a positive link between breakfast and mental and physical performance.”
–Kellogg’s Love Your Cereal
I received a Kellogg’s prize pack as part of their new Love Your Cereal campaign. We were already very big fans of the Kellogg’s brand but this solidified the fact that cereal IS a good breakfast choice for our children as well as ourselves. Pairing a bowl of Kellogg’s cereal with milk provides one with the nutrition you need to take on the day. Even in this day and age, most children lack basic nutritional needs such as potassium, calcium and vitamin D. I love that a simple and quick bowl of Kellogg’s cereal in the morning can not only get the kids started off on the right foot but it gives me peace of mind knowing that “quick” no longer has to be unhealthy. Experts agree that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and nine out of ten moms agree that cereal makes a convenient breakfast choice.

I love Kellogg’s I like fruit loops!
So, I’m not the only one who has to remind their kids to eat breakfast. I think the youngest takes about a half hour to eat a small bowl of cereal, luckily he eats it without milk or it would be a pile of mush. They usually eat Raisin Bran or Frosted Mini Wheats, I eat old fashioned oats every morning.
That bowl in your picture looks great! The sides keep the spoon from sliding around. We are big Kellogg’s fans!
I love how their cereal now how more whole grains. I hate having to fight with the kids first thing in the morning, so letting them pick out their cereal has made it so much easier.
I still love Apple Jacks! I also love Corn Pops! And then there’s Raisin Bran…shall I go on?
LOL!! Mine usually end up playing more thann eating! As for me…I love my cereal and will eat it anytime of the day or night.
Our family loves Kellogg’s cereal, I even eat.
Congratulations on winning that cool package! We love Kellogg’s for that very reason – quick but healthy. Fruit Loops is out favorite.
