Fourth of July is just around the corner and it is time to start thinking about the festivities! We always have a big party, usually with hot dogs and hamburgers and a few other goodies too. This can get costly, but I have a great giveaway for you below to help with the cost, while also receiving a yummy prize!

But first, I want to introduce you to Sara Lee Soft and Smooth Wheat Buns. I was not aware of these, and I have not tried them, but I am anxious to run out and buy some. My family is trying to eat healthier and I know these will taste as delicious as the other Sara Lee Products I have enjoyed for years. I have always found that their bread stays fresher much longer than other brands, and the flavor and quality has always impressed me.

Most of the time all of our buns get eaten, and we do not have leftovers. However, when we do have leftover buns, I usually do not know what to do with them (especially if I have no hot dogs or hamburger patties leftover). I don’t want to make sandwiches out of them, and sometimes I end up throwing them away. I feel really bad doing this, but I don’t think I will be doing that anymore! Did you know that there are several ways to use leftover Sara Lee Soft and Smooth Wheat Buns too? Keep the thrill after the grill – make the most of your buns this summer! Here are just a few ideas:

Breakfast – French Toast Sticks:
Cut Sara Lee Soft and Smooth Wheat Hot Dog Buns Made with Whole Grain into quarters and then cut each piece in half along the perforated edge.
Next, dip in a vanilla egg custard and pan fry

Appetizer/Snack – Bruschetta:
Cut Sara Lee Soft and Smooth Wheat Hot Dog Buns Made with Whole Grain in half along the perforated edge
Baste with olive oil and minced garlic and bake
Top with diced tomatoes and basil

Lunch/Dinner – Mini Homemade Pizzas:
Use each half of Sara Lee Soft and Smooth Wheat Hamburger Buns Made with Whole Grain as the crust to your pizza
Spread pizza sauce and sprinkle with oregano
Top with mozzarella cheese and bake until cheese is melted

Dessert – Summer Pudding:
Make a berry compote using blackberries, raspberries and blueberries
Layer Sara Lee Soft and Smooth Wheat Hamburger Buns Made with Whole Grain and the berry compote in a glass bowl.
Refrigerate until the juices from the berry compote have saturated the bread

Mmmm – those sound yummy! I just might have to try those. I think a bread pudding would be wonderful too.wheat-buns

A few fun facts about Sarah Lee Buns:

From May to Sept. 2008 Sara Lee sold enough hot dog buns to feed one got dog to every fan at a sold out Wrigley Field.

When lined up end-to-end, the 171.2 million Sara Lee hot dog buns sold during the 2008 grilling season (May-September) would circle a Major League base path 217,981 times.

The 35 million packages of Sara Lee buns sold from May to September 2008 could feed a hamburger or hot dog to more than 91 percent of the 306 million U.S. residents.
