I didn’t want to settle for a basic replacement — I wanted a complete upgrade. David helped design a simple, elegant plan that brought in the luxury look I was craving.
We went with a modern shiplap wall, a Touchstone electric smart fireplace with LED lights and heater.
They even offered wall mounting!
This cut out nook was a hot spot for random junk and toys.

They also custom-fabricated this gorgeous floating wood mantle that became the perfect finishing touch.

Shiplap is trending but also timeless. It created a major focal point in my living room because of the clean lines and bright white paint. It can be painted any color for an accent wall.

How To Find Custom Fireplace or Accent Wall builders in Charlotte
Always read reviews
Unica Walls had great reviews but don’t just read the best 5 star reviews. I find it’s always best to read the worst reviews and decide for yourself if the issue was caused by the customer and to see how the company handled it.
Make sure you love the work you see online
Look at their installation photos. Decide if they have successfully completed an accent wall or fireplace installation similar to what you have in mind. Chances are they will be able to deliver that again.
Check the social media
You want to see that a custom builder is posting new jobs consistently. It shows that they have the materials and the manpower to execute your install.
Check the comments on their social media pages. These are reviews too!
Never pay 100% upfront
If the company asks for you to pay before the install, refuse and find someone else. A contractor should not ask for more than 50% of the final cost. If they do, try to negotiate less of a downpayment.
Make sure they are insured
This is an important aspect that differentiates a company doing real business vs one that is less experienced or planning to cut corners to make a quick buck.
