This is such a common question it seems, and one I asked myself time and time again – how can I stop my hair from thinning? After much trial and error, and a lot of money, I finally found my own regimen and I am happy to say that it is not a kit and it isn’t very costly! I am sharing this with you, because the struggle is real, and if I can help just one person to stop losing their hair, then this post was well worth it. Read on to learn what finally worked for my thinning hair.

I asked just about everyone I knew if they had experienced hair loss themselves, if they knew somebody who had dealt with it, or if they happened to know of a solution for women’s hair loss. I was desperate – my hair was falling out rapidly.
But I not only wanted to know how to stop the hair loss, I kept asking myself, “WHY is my hair thinning so much?”. If I knew why, I might be able to determine the best way to make my hair stop falling out. I am in my mid fifties, so I honestly didn’t think it was age related. Below is a photo of how bad my hair was. The top of my hair looked okay (although it was thin as well), but below my ears, it was just barely there. I was so embarrassed – it looked awful.

Just a few months prior I had beautiful, really long, gorgeous hair. All of a sudden my hair was short, but I hadn’t cut it. It happened somewhat gradually but then one day I looked in the mirror and there was barely hair behind my ears. It looked strange and I became extremely depressed. I went to the doctor and she asked what had been going on in my life lately. I explained to her some pretty stressful situations I had been in and she determined that my thinning hair was most likely the result of stress. Yes, there had been quite a bit of that! She prescribed an oral medicine, but after reading about the side effects, I decided not to take it. Instead I investigated further on my own to see if I could find a solution to better fit my needs. I found that shampoo containing Sodium Lauryl Sulfate can cause hair to fall out, so the first thing I did is stopped using shampoos that contained that.
My husband’s aunt, who had lost her hair due to cancer treatment, swore by a certain shampoo “system”. Her hair had grown back fully, and I was intrigued. I decided to read up on the products she was using to see if they might be a fit for me {I read reviews on just about everything before I make a purchase!}. The reviews were mixed, but there was one thing that stood out to me. Several people mentioned that it works okay but that once you stop using it, you will have the same problem again. In other words you will need to use it forever. That is an issue for me because the haircare “system” was incredibly expensive! I tried a few other shampoos that didn’t do anything.
Through trial and error over the course of a few months, I am happy to report that I finally found my own regimen for thinning hair and it has worked wonders for me! It is a combination of 3 things that have made a huge difference for me, and I am beyond excited. My hair is full again and it is getting longer every day.
Here is the solution for thinning hair that worked (and is still working) for me:
~5,000 mcg. of Biotin every day
I am dedicated with this – I take 5,000 mcg of Biotin every day without fail. The brand I use is shown below, but I’m sure there are other brands that work just as well.
Honestly, the first time I used this I purchased the whole Nutri-Ox system, but lately I just use the Nutri-Ox 3C spray, because I feel that it is what is helping the most. I use it after I wash and towel dry my hair. Per the directions, I spray it in the areas that are especially thin. For me those areas are the two spots right above my neck, on the crown of my head and above my ears. I then massage it in for one minute.
~One-a-Day Multi-Vitamin
Just like the Biotin, I make sure I take a One-a-Day Multi-Vitamin every, single day. It is easy to miss out on certain vitamins in our daily diets, so this helps to make sure I am getting most of what I need I suppose.
That’s it! Three simple products.
I truly believe that the reason my hair first started thinning was because of a particularly stressful and difficult time in my life.
It is worth mentioning that the second most traumatic and stressful events of my life occurred shortly after my hair had grown back, and it hasn’t thinned since! I continue to use the Nutri-Ox 3C spray daily, and I know I always will {unless for some crazy reason it stops working}.

Much better, right? Now as far as length goes, I’ve got a long way to go (ha – no pun intended!). I am working on that, but I kind of like it shorter actually. Shorter and fuller, that is. Plus, I am getting older, as much as I hate to admit it.
If you have been struggling with the same problem and find yourself asking, “How can I stop my hair from thinning?”, please, please give the above method a try for two or three months and see if it helps you. I know what a helpless, awful feeling it is to watch more hair fall out day after day.
If you have success with the above method I would LOVE to hear about it. I truly hope you will have the same results that I have had.

Your hair looks awesome! Thanks for the tips. I do notice, now in my mid-forties, that the crown of my head is getting super thin. I use good shampoos that don’t strip your hair, and condition faithfully. I’m gonna try the biotin and maybe the nutri-ox. I’ll definitely do the research, thank you!
You are very welcome! I really hope you will have the same luck. The good shampoos definitely help – and the ones without sodium lauryl sulfate. Definitely try the Biotin at least. I really think it will help. Please let me know in a couple of months if you have seen a difference!
Hi Jennifer. Thank you for sharing. Do you only use the Nutri-Ox spray once a day? The directions say twice daily, 12 hours apart. I was wondering because I try to shampoo every other day, so I would be using the spray with styling products on my hair. I don’t want to damage what I have or lose anymore!!!!
